Is anyone aware of a brighter replacement bulb that can be used in the bi pin tech surge. Obviously I'll have to live with the shorter run time /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The Surge is a plastic light and gets hot enough as it is. A more powerful bulb would be risky. They had to tweak the design a few times already to keep even the current bulb from overheating the light, melting the solder, etc.

Paulr,

Thank you for the good advice, makes total sense. I recall you keep your Surge in the glove box for the occasional street sign. I'm not sure what I will do with mine because of the Alaska cold. I've got the lithium filled UK4AA LED plus a 2C to 3 - 123 in my glovebox just because they are lithiums. For now, the Sportsman discounted price of $19.99 makes it a fun toy for comparisons. Thank goodness I got a load of Energizer 2500 rechargables /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Again, thanks Paulr for the sound advice and for being a night owl also.
