Re: 80\'s Music

Not necessarily in order:

Cheap Trick "Dream Police"
Billy Squier "The Stroke"
The Police "Spirits in the Material World"
The Cars "Dangerouus Type"
Pink Floyd "The Wall Part One"
Aldo Nova "Fantasy"

There are more, but I can't think of them right off the bat. And there's no heavy metal in there either. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif

Gad - I would have picjed some different Police cuts

Look up the following bands
Berlin
OMD
The Go Gos
Depeche Mode
Joe Jackson
Culture Club

Heck - if you can get an old playlist for WDRE radio (which became WLIR, which is now sold to a Spanish station) - they played 80s up till the sale late last year - I miss them

WOW - seems the Jocks have put togethere a web site, and there looks like a rebirth on the high end of the dial

http://www.wlir.fm/92.7%20wlir%20tribute%20site!.htm

Here is their top 200 of the 80s list - pretty much the definitive list for 80s music

Pretty good list! Wow, i'm pretty sure i have 95% of those songs in MP3/CD's. Compiling them would be a chore though.

RE WLIR

Supposidly (and hey, at least in NYC they were) WLIR was one of the top "80s" music stations out there - broke a lot of new stuff, played a lot of imports that no one else touched, and had some very cool DJs

I got to visit their original studio one or two times, as they were in the same building as the electronics school I went to.

If you want a ton of 80's music, see if you can get an XM satellite radio -- they have an 80's channel. They also display the artist and song title as they play the tune.

I have been thinking about XM, but thats just more hardware and a monthly subscription i dont need. But, i have to admit that the Red LCD receivers they have look awesome.

Re: 80\'s Music

(chiming in) Oh boy! A lot of good music memories from my growing up years too! NEW WAVE STILL RULES!

All of those are great songs but only two REALLY stand out from among them--not the best of course--just that these two brings those memories the closest, a beat in my chest and a big smile on my face:

Wishful Thinking - China Crisis
Ghost in You - OMD?
