Need BEST Reflector for 5W 2XCR123A Tactical App.

I would like to find a reflector source that will provide the hotspot/corona that is required in tactical environments. Is there anything available that will get me the beam shape I am desiring (nice hotspot and throw.) I really like the pictures of the Gladius beams - does anyone know where they might be getting their reflectors? I have a 2XCR123A with a Lumileds 5W setup. I could make my own, but wanted to check to see if the best was already available anywhere in the box.

The Gladius uses an IMS so27xa reflector with a LuxIII. If you are after the same beam pattern with a 5W, you will need a reflector some where in the neighborhood of 2.5 to 3" Try a Carley or Mag reflector?!?! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

It depends on how large you don't mind the light being. Off the top of my head, I'd say go for a C cell M@g conversion running at 1A. Other than that, you could consider an Aleph III on a 2X123 body. I've found the Aleph III to be a good partner to any 5W led.

if you need the lux-V 2 CR123A flashlight with the larger reflector (for best trow...) try the nuwai TM-116X

The Aleph3 on 2x123 with a LuxV throws almost as good as the Gladius (if driven hard) but has more spill. The downside is runtime.

Good data Bernhard! For point of reference, the McR-27 is very similar in beam output to the IMS so27xa used in the Gladius; to some, it is even considered superior. (slightly tighter and consequently brighter - higher lux)

Thanks to all of you! I am usually better at tracking my post, but the wife had other plans. I will try and get ahold of some IMS reflectors - and maybe consider a 3W instead. I am floored by the fact that a 5W won't do what a 3W will. I know there are posts on the differences, but if you can be a Gladius on 3W what the heck is a 5W good for?
