This is my first mod, see what I did to my Nuwai Quantum QIII:

- inserted a O-ring to make it stand on it's tail for candle mode
- removed the clip
- put a 10 Ohm resistor in the tailcap to make it two-stage (desired brightness is selected by turning the tailcap)
- replaced the stock SX1K with a TWOJ
- flattened the bezel to make it shorter and better suited for EDC

and now the pics:

These are the parts, SX1K unsoldered:

Solder the TWOJ in place:

How did you flatten the bezel?

Former Mag User,

I sanded the bezel with a grinding wheel, then
used several types of sandpaper for the finish.

Nice job for a first mod. Can you explain the twist dual stage resistor part in detail for us cromags to try on our own? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

CromagNet,

here it goes:
I opened the tailcap, then unscrewed the plastic ring which holds the switch spring with a needle nose pliers.
Removed the spring from that plastic ring, cut that part of the spring that makes contact with the switch.
Inserted a 10 Ohm resistor, soldered it to the spring, the other side goes to the switch contact.
Then I added a spring wire that shortcuts the resistor when the tailcap is fully screwed in for full brightness.
And for low mode the tailcap has to be unscrewed about 1/4 turn. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
