Tradedigit is offering a cheap ($11 shipped)
8 LED dual AA light on Ebay. Anyone have any experience with this unit? I'm hoping it'd make a decent emergency light, provided it lives up to its advertised burn time of six hours.

it use the step-up circuit of the xnova 1AA

this electronic circuit have a wide range of input voltage:

with 1 AA drain about 270ma
with 2 AA 480ma
with 3 AA 640ma

with 1 battery the output is low, i think about 3-4 lumens, with 2 or 3 batteries is much more, around 20 lumens... but with a drain of 480ma after 1-2 hours the output drop al lot and remain a real low light...

so if you want a decent output for a lot of time i suggest the 1 AA version

I have the same light except mine is the seven LED version with a 5mw red laser in the centre, I use it as a work light
to look at computer circuits, I find that it works very well with rechargeable AA Cells no problems at all, well worth the price

If I've done the math right, then the one AA model should have a runtime of just under 7h on 2000mAh nimh, 5h on alkalines, and around 10h on lithiums. That's pretty decent.

I have the 12led single AA version. Its pretty damned bright for what it is, but its FAR brighter when fed more voltage, which says to me that the 2xAA lights will be very bright.

Same camera settings for both shots.
