Does anyone know if there is any difference in brightness for both Pelican M10 which uses 4 alkaline batteries and M11 which has Nicad rechargable. Pelican sites indicates that M10 produces 72 lumens/30,000Candlepower/4.8watts.
M11 produces 151 lumens/40,000candlepower /9.12 watts. What the heck is the difference since both of them accept equivalent of 4C types batteries? Does anyone know? This is confusing. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I do not know the answer to your question. I do have the M10 and would agree it has around 72 Lumens, it has great throw, hotspot could be better. A couple of shadows due to bulb reflector setup. I like the light for what it is. O-ringed pretty well.
Regards.

Rechargeable batteries can handle higher current draws then alkaline batteries which allows a higher wattage bulb to be used.

M10 4.8 watts , M11 9.12 watts. That should explain the difference in lumens.
According to Pelicans website, M11 had a 1.8 amp current draw and 1.5 hour runtime. The M10 has a .8 amp current draw and 7.7 hour runtime.

that is an odd way pelican post the spec. How the heck can the M11 draw 1.8amp current when it use an equivalent of 4C cell. it has same bulb as M10.

Do you have either of these?

I have the M10 and I love it. It is a real long distance throw light. In fact, because of its brightness and performance, it is my "next to the bed" light.

I don't have any complaints about this light at all.
