Can 5 watt LEDs throw?

Hi,
I own the SF L4 and is an obvious floodlight. I looked into the L2, L5, L6, L7, and U2 and they are all generally flood as well. Could one turn the L4 or other 5 watt LEDs into a spotlight? If so , why don't they?
Thanks!

I believe the best throw acheived other than the photon king would be the space needles made by Mr. Bulk. These are 5 watts modded into 2C mag lites....

I have made some clones of these sn2's.
They do throw, but have a donut hole in thier beam at tightest focus.
The beam is about 2 feet in diameter from 20 feet away.

Look at an Aleph3 to see a LED throw. Most SF lights tend to be a little trimmer to make them easier to carry, which kinda kills off the ability to throw. .

In the non-unobtanium range you got a Space-Needle-like light (modded Mag) that throws very well with a LuxV or the Aleph3 head for an E-Series body that throws almost as well as an Aleph1 with LuxIII.

you can't, believe me /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
you'd need a bigger reflector to make a LuxV throw.

IIRC Streamlight has a 3x123 5W light with a bigger reflector, or SF L5, L6 and U2, but those aren't real throw monsters either.
You want real throw ... go with a LuxIII.
