Using the information from a CPF thread on doing a 2C mag with 3x123 mod, I thought it might be fun to mod a "antique" 1940's Boy Scout flashlight to share with the Scouts and their leaders during a recent Troop campout. I cut a 4 1/2" piece of 3/8" thick foam hot water pipe insulation to hold the 3 123 batteries and tried using dimes to make up length difference. The battery covers prevented contact, so together with 6 dimes I inserted the spring from an extra minimag I had and put in a KPR 112 Kryton bulb(RS272-1163) and lit it up. The old Scout leaders axiom of "Keep it simple, make it fun" sure worked with this one. "Snipe hunts" around here will never be the same because all of the Scouts are now scrambling to make their own "Super Scout" light. Incidently the reflector in a 1940 Eveready Boy Scout flashlight throws a much better beam than the adjusted 2C Mag. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
