You will find that these are type2 anno'ed.
There may be an occasional speck of aluminum showing here and there when you get yours.
This is normal.

how would the modified Q3 work w/R123s? do you still need to change the converter to have the light work properly w/rechargeables?

Bad news.
The TWOJ stars may actually get overdriven by r123's.
These are really intended for anyone with a boxfull of cr123 disposables to play with.
Needless to say, I'll be keeping one of these premium, affordable pocketrockets for myself as well.

Got mine today. Great job 3rd_shift! I already dropped in a IMS20 reflector and a UCL lens and wow. Nice and bright and white with a great throw and spill. Going out now to play.

I've run my Q3 with TW0J on a JSB 4.2v R123. Insane brightness levels, the light gets very hot (I did add a ton of extra heatsinking) and the runtime is about 37 minutes. More than acceptable /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have probably 2-3 hours of use in this configuration and its not dead, yet.

What exactly did you do to heatsink the light? I'd be interested in trying the R123'S in my light, but I'm leery of FRYING it!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I now have 10 of these Q3's TWOJ'ed, in stock and ready to ship.

Apparently, not all TWOJ's are exactly alike.
Some are a little brighter than others. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif
The brightest ones probably just missed being UWOJ by only a few lumens.

The brightest one is $55.
The eight in the middle are $52 each.
The dimmest that barely qualified above 67 lumens at 700ma is $50.
