I was looking at the SF website, and they are selling a version of the 6P for "NRA members only". Their symbol is some kind of beetle. What is the NRA?

Just the largest gun owners association in the world.

They firmly believe in the Constitutional right to bear arms and help to defend that right for all Americans.

In many places they fund educational workshops on gun and weapons safety, hunting, self defense, and protection of personal rights.

Most members are law abiding citizens who simply want to make sure the right to bear arms is not abridged like the Peoples Republic of California and the Peoples Republic of New York have done!

I myself have not yet joined, I plan on it, just haven't done it yet!

The NRA is supposed to be one of the biggest, most poerful lobbies in the US. Or so the gun control advocates say. I guess they need better advertisements if Mags_despiser hasn't heard of them

There's the NRA and the NRA-ILA (political branch of the NRA).

I'd join if I could figure out how to have ALL my dues go to the NRA-ILA

Another option is Gun Owners of America http://www.gunowners.org/ They are more 'no compromise' than the NRA /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Go to your public library and check out their magazine section. The NRA magazine, The American Rifleman, is probably there and you can get an idea of what they do.

They're kind of like a flashaholics organization for guns, except that we don't have to worry that a large number of people and pretty much all the media seem to think flashlights (i.e. firearms to the NRA...) should be outlawed, banned, and possibly forcibly confiscated (despite a Constitutional amendment that sure sounds like it's a guaranteed right of free US citizens to have them). Living in California, I can attest that this conceern is not a paranoid delusion.

So, mostly good people who have paid dues to join an organization that supports firearms and the right to own them.

"I" am the NRA (for those of you that don't know, it's a quote from some of their commercials where just common folks appear on camera and state "I" am the NRA.

...and yes "I" am a Lifetime Member! ...and yes I believe in 2nd Ammendment rights, safety & education using guns...all that positive stuff!

Surefire offers two "members only" lights. One is the National Rifle Association whose symbol is the eagle, crossed rifles and the American shield. The second is the Safari Club International, whose symbol is a lion, crossed spears and an African shield. I don't see a beetle in either one, but you may have seen a bad picture of one of them.

I'm NRA member

They also have SF C2 special editions, or did at one time. Maybe still do?

I think it's mostly a matter of your interests.
Parents interests play a good part too.

If you are a hunter or shooter you should either already be a member or should join. The NRA did a lot for us this past year. They earned their keep as far as I am concerned.

A gun was the first thing I owned. It was mine by birthright.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crackup.gif You are funny, Mags! I think it's actually an eagle.

hehe. My uncle has a friend in the NRA that I see a lot. Known about it since I was born I suppose.

Mags, I thought it was a beetle at first glance also!!! I probably wouldn't have known it was a shield unless someone above didn't say so /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

"I" am the NRA also.

I'm a husband, father, business-owner, and so law-abiding that it's sometimes embaressing.
