At work, I routinely get > 40000 Kbit/s (yes, 40 THOUSAND) synchronous bandwidth, but that's because they have some tremendous pipes at work. Of course, that's using Verizon's internal speedtest servers. I've yet to see an external bandwidth test site that can accurately measure my bandwidth at work.

Yes, they will be higher (more accurate) if you use a closer server. There are a couple listed there in HI...

Yes, they will be higher (more accurate) if you use a closer server. There are a couple listed there in HI...

For me a more accurate test is to pick a server far away, that is a more realworld test.IMHO /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

From work I get 3547 down and 3865 up. This is from Norway! I'm directly connected to a Gigabit infrastructure so I haven't found any servers up to the task of measuring the full speed, the best I have measured was 21500 kbit.
From home I only get 2600 down.

Thanks guys, BatteryCharger I will try the ones here (if I can find them) and BeamHead you do have a good point as well, that I don't surf only local Hawaiian sites but everywhere in the country and even the world. I will try to get both readings, but the other point you brought up is even better, that at this time (well, it is a little later by now) there are likely way more users still online, clogging up the pipes. I will probably get better numbers as the night (and early morning) wears on.
