"TOKYO -- Toshiba Corporation today announced the commercialization of white light emitting diodes (LEDs) that achieve the industry's highest level of luminosity and that can be used in general lighting, ornamental lighting and LCD backlighting. The company will ship samples of the new white LED from July and start mass-production in October at an initial volume of 1 million units per month.
