Cy-
I have a very similar light: Aleph 1x123 body with a McGizmo head with a BB700 and a TXOJ. I'd been afraid to run a R123 in it because I'd heard that if the Vin is greater than the Vf of the LED, direct drive could damage the converter. Then I saw your post. Have you been running this with R123s with no ill effects?

Thanks,

David

been running R123 li-ion in all different flavors with no ill effects. the critical item is luxeon's vf. J is almos perfect for running li-ion.

a Kbin would match li-ion's voltage closer. Hbin runs the risk of killing the luxeon. your board is not at risk.

this early Aleph has a bright & white beam. Don must stay up late nights picking out choice luxeons for his lights. I must say I have never own a Don creation that didn't have choice pick of luxeon.

Still available

"I want it!"

Oh, wait...that's probobly not good enough for you to send it to me. This looks like a really cool light and I'd love to own a McGizmo, but I've spent my allowance on several lights already. It's going to be a while before I can save up for one as nice as this.
