Can´t do that, while being tough to open anyway you´ll only find the "bare" emitter in there - no printing at all as on a star so no way besides eyebaling or using expensive equipment to know what bin it is.

I am also interested in the bin(s) that they are using.

The luxeon lottery does seem to be alive and well at Surefire.

Regards.

Klaus is right. Although I haven't opened any L2s, I've opened/modded plenty of L4s. As with all Surefires, that I've seen, there are no stars, only bare emitters. You just can't tell what the bin of the emitter is, except to make an educated guess based on the tint of your light.

The information that I have run across suggests, at the least, that although Surefire does not play the binning game as far as tint and Vf go, they do use at least W bin 5W luxeons. It would seem that their concern is with brightness.
