i dont have any special equipment, except a lightmeter, so i dont have a fantastic graph like some other posters.

but, i did find out some interesting things: i really like LED's.

Brock's runtime chart shows the attitude starting lower than my readings, but in general, our discharge curves look similar. heck, his data is probably more accurate.

i used fresh duracells, and took readings 1 meter from the sensor, at 1 hour intervals.

0: 52 lux
1: 41
2: 37.5
3: 36.2
4: 34.4
5: 33.3 test terminated.

this really impresses me. the light is still very bright--it appears only slightly dimmer than the start.

(im not sure, but i think there may be a "surface sharge" on the batts which causes an unusually high reading for the first 10 or 15 minutes, then they settle down into a slow dwindle. the "base" reading might be considered ~40 lux, which means that the actual curve is flatter than the above numbers show.).

this is precisely why LED's impress me! even unregulated, they just chug along happily...$15 for this light place it very high on my list for "best bang for the buck".

i might just have to order an opalec...but my budget is severely blown!

take care,
Bob

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Yep. I was really thinking about getting an Opalec (a reportedly great light!). But, when I looked at Brock's runtime chart, I could see that the Attitude would be quite acceptably bright for at least two+ hours. That's easily a week's worth of light for me on average (I use about 20 minutes a day). Since I use NiMH AAAs, I just recharge them about once a week. So...I got the basic equivalent of a regulated light at about half the cost (plus I really, really like the Attitude form factor). And...if I ever get into an emergency situation where I am using alkalines (I keep a few around for long shelf life), I know my unregulated Attitude will suck every last electron out of those batteries over time.
