2/3 AA\'s in Reactor

Has anyone tried, or have an opinion on, using 3 2/3 AA NiMh in the CMG reactor? I am of course referring to the original 2 cell Reactor. I prefer to use rechargeables whenever possible. I'm also assuming the 3 cells will fit in the Reactor's battery tube.

This light's output is pretty pathetic on any 2 cell configuration except lithiums. I would tend to think that it can handle the 3.6 or so volts DD from three cells in series without a resistor unless I happen to have one with an unusually low Vf.

I'm not concerned with a super runtime as this light will only be used for 40 minutes or so between charges on my run to work.

If this works in my Reactor I may try it with my white Inretech 2AA adaptor as well.

Waddya think ? Will I see the magic smoke?

It will likely push between 600 and 800 mA into the LS (about 2X the rated current). It will run hot - the reactor may not be built to dissipate the heat from the LS.

In that case, you'd want to resistor it down to the rated current (350mA).
