Could some one explain to me what the difference/advantages of a High Dome LED over a Low Dome LED are? I see these terms knocked about here...so I was wondering what they mean?

low dome and high dome are named for the shape of the clear material on top of the led. one is lower, and the other is a higher, rounder shape.

hd's will yeild a slightly squarish beam when used with the nx05 optics, and throw further thant he ld, which will yeild a rounder beam, which is better from up close work. it is really a matter of preference. hd's also use a better phospher coating process, no one really knows if and when this will be implemented in the ld's

se are only good with reflectors, they do not work at all with optics.

when using a reflector (*ag sized) i find the best beam pattern from the ld's the hd's are more touch on centering and the beam isn't as smooth. ld's have a perfect smooth corona, with a strong, round hotspot (very much like an e2e). and se's will give you a strange many-pointed start shaped pattern.
