According to company insider the Xlamp led's can be pushed to 1 amp with a GOOD heatsink. I just had to try it myself this evening and they sure do get bright. Don't try it without good cooling though for any duration. I've had 3 running at 4.6 volts/1 amp for 5 hours now with 20 square inches of aluminum heat sink and the temps at the back of ufo's are just under 105 f. I'm not into flashlights but think of the beam shot you could have with that output.

Does this insider give any hint to the luminious maintenance at 1 amp drive levels?

According to the spec sheet relative intensity is up at 230% with a 2nm shift. The ones I am burning right now are the UV's. The guy told me life spans should not degrade much unless the heat sink is to small. Duh! I'll let them burn for a week to see what happens.
