The PT Surge runs at 7.5 watts. There is no LED flashlight easely available that can touch that. The Surge is a great starter light to have. I've bought and gave to family at least a half dozen. The switch takes a bit to get used to and if you buy one and the switch seems a bit stiff to you, contact me. Easy fix.

Thanks. It's my only incan - I'm a newbie led fan with a Costco Lux, Gerber LX-3 and SL PP Lux just looking for more ways to spend money.

Just a curious question, I bought a used Surge about 2 years ago without an owners manual. My Surge only works with 4 cells on the side opposite the switch, or with 8 cells. If you only use 4 cells on the switch side it will not light. Is this normal ?
