OK, here is what I found at Sunn Batteries in Jacksonville, Florida when I visited them in person (Thank Brock for listing in his flashlight section). They sell 12 (dozen) 123A for $21.99 (regularly $22.99) at http://www.sunnbattery.com/category.html;$sessionid$HWRIWNAAAAGGNWGIHUXHBMWY ZA4YLPX0?UCIDs=824406. The ones I got are Panasonic and they were made in USA. They also had Energizer AA Industrial alkaline for $.38 each. Also coin lithium batteries - http://www.sunnbattery.com/category.html?UCIDs=559844%7C559915. I got the 2032 - 25 for $9.99. These were in a bulk tray and are Panasonic. Just so you folks know of a good place. When I asked about the Energizer AA Industrial I was told they purchase them 5000 at a time!

Cheapest/easiest place I know for batteries is local (and I imagine local to everywhere)... Lowe's.
This month, Rayovac Maximum (Alkaline).
$9.99.
24 AA's, or 24 AAA's, or 12 C's or 12 D's.
Basically, 41 cents each for AA or AAA,
83 cents for C or D.

Oops... forgot tax...

87 cents for C or D, 43 cents for AAA or AA.

If you're looking for AA's, keep an eye on your local Circuit City ( if you have one ). They sometimes sell Maxell AA 20-pack for 99 cents after 9 or 10 dollar rebate.

Check here to view "Sunday" ads for Circuit City and others.

I don't know about other cities, but here in downtown Seattle, there is usually somebody standing on Pike Street between Bang Mi cigarettes and Pay-N-Save selling "AA" and "AAA" multipacks - the going price seems to be $5 to $6 for 24 Duracell "AA", and around $2 to $2.50 for "AAA" 12-packs.

Yeah, they're *very likely* hotter than radioactive cat ****, but as I understand, this practise is relatively common in big cities.

This might be an option if you're a bit low on funds but need batteries anyway.

Plus you get that warm feeling of knowing you've just bought a '40' of Olde English 800 Malt Liquor (or a pack of Marlboros) for someone who might otherwise have to go without. :-O

I think this was posted somewhere else, but those Rayovac Maximum's are the best alkalines I've seen, and usually cheaper than Duracell or Energizer. I'm going to stop at Lowes later and pick some up. (If there open today - July 4th)

Sflate: You might want to be careful about leaving those Rayovacs in a device for too long at a time. I've noticed that that brand has been bad about leaking for me. Great batteries otherwise, they just don't seem to be sealed well enough.
