How hard to remove a CMG sonic's LED?

How hard to remove a CMG sonic\'s LED?

I want to put a 26K in. I can't really make out how it's
secured, and don't want to ruin it since it's my fav sonic.
BTW, this is a CMG not gerber in case that make's a difference. VDG

I had a few of the Sonics when I bought a multi tool that had one included in the package as a bonus item. I did not like the output and also wanted to swap the LED out. I am not sure if the board will slide all the way out from the tail cap as I tried several times with alot of heat applied.
Sad to say I ended up cutting the body just to get to the small board. Once it was cut it slid out with a little heat. The weird part was after I cut it I could not see any ridge within the body to actually hold the board in place.
It did appear that the board should have simply slid all the way out the back however I could not get it to do that until I cut the body just behind the board.
I ended up using the board for another host so the end result was a destroyed Sonic. Try holding a solder tip to the body and push from the front after it gets just too hot to hold with your bare hands. Maybe yours will be a little different than mine...good luck

The head came off for me with a lot of elbow grease and a strapwrench.

The LED end? I didn't know it came off. I never took a good look, it just looked like knurling, so there is a seem there? hmmm. BTW how easy is the led itself to remove? VDG
