I'm looking for a tailcap with a dimmer dial, for this flashlight.

If nobody makes a tailcap with a dimmer dial, how difficult would it be to modify these with a dimmer dial? Our astronomy club owns 12 of these. Who would be up for making this modification?

The flashlight uses 4 red LEDs and 3 AA batteries. It is extremely bright for a red led flashlight, which is great for walking trails and finding eye pieces left on the ground, but it's WAY too bright for reading star charts. The red light is thrown back into your face and annoys everyone around you.

Thanks in advance.

perhaps moddifiy the tail cap with a POT. And make it where the spring contacts the batteries then the POT and not the tail cap. Then the other side of the POT contacts the tail which contacts the body of the light...

Racoon, Chances are that it uses no electronics, so just adding a switch that allows a resistor to be added would do the trick.

You'd have to send one of those lights to the modder so they can check the threads, depth of the recess they are working with, etc.

It's probablyt not cheap, since a small batch would be done by hand and drive the cost up. Way up.
