If you don't care for a good looking solution find a cheap penlight with drop-in bulb (I don't know the typical bulb type). Saw of the tapered part in the front, force the head into the body and secure it with a drop of epoxy.

The final version with glued-in head is working like a charm ever since I made it. It still doesn't look very nice but it's working.
