Just some comments regarding efficiency...
All four batteries in my SL 4AA are DEAD....won't even register on either of my battery testers. Yet, I'm getting respectable output, plenty to navigate in a room. Is it because it has four batteries that it is this effective with dead batteries (i.e. 4 X the voltage of 1 dead battery)?
I don't particularly like this light, but I do have to give it credit for being incredibly efficient with dead batteries, and for having excellent runtime (would be useful in an emergency I think).
