today i was at biglots my roomate from old house came up and broght me my bike and other stuff even some leds a nice person sent me. well at biglots woohoo i saw a cool night light it is like a flat night light and it glows green and used very little power it is soo cool i got 2 for 2 bucks if ya have info on em please tell me

That nightlight you purchased sounds like an EL (electroluminescent) panel type. Glows on AC only; not DC.
It's basically a capacitor (or a "capacitator" as some people call them). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Two conductive plates with a thin, insulating material between them.
This website might offer some insight into EL products.

Yep, I'm sure that's an electroluminescent nightlight. They are very cool, both physically as well as asthetically. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The one downside of E.L. technology is that the phosphor ages, so don't be surprised if it's not as bright in a year or two. It's par for the course.
