I imagine a few days before it was useless.

Id be VERY interested to see what the LED heat sink looks like.

I have a few 6V incan lanterns, and was gonna make one a 5W.
But found that I was gonna have to completely rebuild the insides of the lantern,
in order to have a real nice heatsink, and still have the ability to take the assembly out when I needed to change the batts.

But, now, that I have a Triton charger,
I may think about doing this again, and just making it all a perminate assembly,
with an external charger pot.

Or if these are cheap enough, maybe this would be a good host for an upgrade. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I like to go to Dorcy's webpage every once in a while because in spite of their "low end" reputation they occassionally come out with some really innovative stuff that is usually DIRT CHEAP.

Wow, like you said. I wonder how long this would run?

That's easy to estimate. Start with the Energizer data for the battery :

26,000 mAh, per the graphs at 300 mA, about 50 hours.

I saw this advertised in the local Hardware Catalogue "Mitre 10" a few months ago, this is in Sydney, Australia, however i could not find the product in a few store i visited. It was selling for $39.95AUD. I have not seen it advertised anymore since then.

At first i was wondering if it was a misprint, because I don't see many 1, 3, or 5 watt LED selling in the shops here.
I'm pretty interested to know how it heatsinks too!.

There seems to be little information around on this lantern.
