Alignment Jig for attaching Luxeons to .55" sandwiches:



A simple solution for proper alignment of an LED on the standard .55" diameter sandwiches. If you've ever struggled to get that LED centered, you will appreciate this tool:



Apply a dollop of AA, Ceramique, or AS5:


Place the LED on top of the thermal compound, align leads with pins:


Slide top of tool over the LED and sandwich, press down firmly with your fingers, enough to squeeze the thermal compound into a very thin layer, then solder in place:


Well, OK, the soldering still has to be done.

Hey, you did take the threads off! That should make for easier emitter allignment. Nice jig!

Not only were the threads removed, but we tightened up the specs for a tighter fit all around, at the suggestion of Wayne.

BTW, may be very obvious, but just in case--these are solid brass and fairly heavy.

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!!

Came home from work today with a headache so did not check this thread as often as I like and missed out. If it were not for the headache I had today, I would have gotten in on this batch of 4. Oh well, at least I will get one of the next batch.

OK every one, I can come up with a few more right away. They are more than half finished now. I just need to find time to get to work when I'm not AT work to finish these off. Might find time this weekend, but I make no promises.
