Hi

I have three lights that have black plactic refectors, wondering what color would be best to paint them for added light?

Thanks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I assume that we're talking about flood lights here due the reflector not being part of the actual optical system.

In this case, white will work very well, pointing all the light in the right direction, but without adding any swirls or shadows into the beam. Silver most likely wouldn't actually help a lot, but *would* add heaps of swirls and splotches into the beam.

That's a thought too. The reason I'm standing by white here, is that if the reflectors are black to start with, they're not likely to be designed to really work as a reflector. Hence if you make it shiny you're likely to get a very messy beam. White would give a smooth flood though, irrespective of reflector geometry.

if you do go with metalic paints, gold and silver type, be sure to finish it with a clear coat. we did some stuff with VERY metalic paints and the paint tarnished exposed to air over time.
