I`ve just ordered one HA3 Q-III from eTendue with a TXOK.
And was wondering if this is a good Bin?
How is it compared to a TWOJ?
I dont know if this matters but i am going to run R123`s in the light.

XO is the color, as per the color chart on that page. XO is more of a blue-white than a cool white like WO is.

T = very good lumens, U-bin is better but still rare and expensive.
XO = It is neutral white, very good tint
K = 3.51v-3.75v Optimal Forward Voltage for Direct Drive, and a Q-III with R123 will be almost DD at full load.

An excellent bin for the purpose.

A color wheel of some bin codes, taken from real photos of those bins:

note luxeon lottery is alive and well. Lumineds cannot test every luxeon.

if you test for color, output and vf within same tray of stars. it's possible to get ranges, all from same bin code.

Re: Can someone please explain me the bin code TX0

By sampling different Luxeon Bin Codes periodically, it appears to me that XO is the most consistently "white" Tint Bin Code. And as some of you may know, I personally "sample" up to a couple of thousand at a time.

I actually prefer YA/YO Tint Bins myself (they give an HID-like bluish white color), but again that is just personal preference and I install them in most of the lights I intend to keep. However if you are looking for a truly neutral white, chances are you will find it more often within the XO Tint Bin, such as the one that is in the light you have coming.

But as cy says, there will be a variation (for example up to 30% for luminous flux) in the declared Bin Code characteristics within even the same Batch of sorted Luxeons.

luminaria, I find that color wheel of yours very useful. Could you add a "true white" swatch somewhere for comparison? Thank you.

Re: Can someone please explain me the bin code TX0

When I made that wheel (made from a real photo with beams of Q3s of all those bins)I was very surprised to find that the X0 section RGB value was exactly 155,155,155. That is a perfect grey value that corresponds to a lower intensity perfect white. So you already have your "true white" there, as would have been seen in the photo.

Anyway, take that wheel with a grain of salt. It is just a real sample of those bins, and I don't know how representative of their bins they were. The source photo was not mine an I don't even know what kind of white balance was used...
