It would seem that someone could make an 3W flashlight that runs on an A23 battery (12V) and buck converter. That would be sweet. Im talking mass production, not just a few. Isn't the Larry-light based on an A23?

Would be a nice small setup if it were to happen with a 3W design.

the A23 battery is the same size as the N cell. There are many N cell flashlight in production.

This is a joke, right?

An A23 has 40mah capacity. It will run a couple of 5mm LEDs for an hour or so.

I'd have to try it to say for sure, but I doubt that it could get a 3 watter to even glow significantly.... and if it did, it would last about a minute at most.

As Silviron said, A23 batteries have a very low capacity, and they just would not have the testicles to run a Luxeon III LED at anywhere near full output.

I guess that would explain why there aren't any. Thanks for the capacity info. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/stupid.gif
