Question about various optics

Could you guys give a brief - or not, if you're so inclined - explanation of what kind of beams the various optics make and how they differ from one another? Also, are any so large that i couldn't use them in a D Quad? Oh, and has anyone used the acrylic ball to good affect?

fraen makes a large spot with little sidespill. Doesnt really through that far. Somebody answer the rest for him.
