How much $ to make a 1D cell extender?

I have one of the 3x3W 3xD cell Nuwai lights which some people upgrade by putting 4xC nimh cells into. My question: about how much would it cost to make a small batch of 1 D cell extenders so that the light could be made to hold 4xD nimh's, for about double the run time. Basic bare aluminum, no ano or knurling?

Just curious...
