Hi, I love my new Gladius Flashlight, but can't help thinking it would be that much more useful if I could find a snap on Red filter for low light night use. Anyone have any ideas where to find one?

Did you know that filters do not work very well with LEDs?

I have one for a Surefire L4, and whilst bright to look at, the amount of [useful] light is minimal - about the same as a red keyfob LED!

I dunno about that.

I recently got a McLuxIII-PD, which uses a Luxeon III. It works very well with both blue and red filters. The red filter turns it into a great astronomy/night reading light. The blue causes lots of things to flouresce (arrow fletches, etc.) I would say it works at least as well as my incans with filters.

LEDs emit less red light than incans, but I don't see how that is a problem for a light that is meant to preserve night vision.
