I ahve been putting together a pack and list for my 'out the door for a daytrip with the family pack' and I have been struggling.

I have a Pregnant wife and an 18 month old son.

So far I have:

Set of FRS/GMRS radios with spare batts
kleenex
pad of paper and pencil
some grocery bags
wet wipes
Swiss army knife
digital camera
small first aid kit
day of trip packed with a few snacks
some spare money - several $5 bills and a few quarters for phone emergency

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Tysonb

Here is a good thread, with a bugout bag or survivalist flavor to it. You may find something interesting there.

best regards

OH MY GOD WE HAVE A FAKE FLASHAHOLIC!! Nah just kidding, but seriously, how can you forget a flashlight? Something like an Arc AAA with a lithium battery and a few spare lithiums.

Or a CMG/Gerber infinity ultra with a lithium AA. Those last LONG. For those kind of situations I usually just throw in my Micro mag with a madmax on the lithium AA.

With an 18 mo. old, how 'bout diapers? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'd also suggest a bottle of children's antihistamine in the event of an allergic reaction (just thinking about the kiddo).

I'm not sure about the Infinity or the Arc AAA, I carry a multi-purpose light, either an Eternalight EliteXRay or an Inova 24/7.

You also might want to think about a first aid kit, a signal mirror and space blankets. You never know what might happen.
