Is it safe to run a RED one watt Luxeon Star LED, on a single 3 volt SR123A Lithium Battery, sans resistor and regulator? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif
I have used a L1 head with a single CR123A lithium battery. I used it on a E1e, but I haven't used it for long runtimes. I've read of others using this same set up. The red L1 head was nice and bright on 1x123.
I just did a comparison of a red L1 on high, E1e/KL1 RD, E1e/L1 red head. The E1e/L1 red head was slightly dimmer in the spill portion, but other than that all three seemed to be pretty close in a white wall comparison.
I don't think the L1 red head is over driven on 1x123.
Thanks, I think you have answered my question, with your tests. Should have thought of that myself. This red L1 is very bright on a single 123A cell. Took me by surprise, because the white L1 is so dim on a single 123A cell.
Just put a McE2s tail cap on the L1-BK-RD Bezel and E1L body. Now I've got what I was looking for. Put a Z57 back on my E1L, that the McE2s came off of.
They may be brighter! I have a couple H2GH-bin R/O stars. Lumileds lists H-bin luminous flux as 200-260 Lumens! The G Vf is 2.79-3.03V. They are hellaciously(sp) bright on a 123!
