Surefire KL5 questions...

I have a Sure L5 on the way to me. I was thinking about picking up a 3 cell body (probably a C3 body) to run the KL5 head on if the gains in runtime and brightness merit the extra cost. The KL5 puts out 65 lumens for about 1 hour with 2 CR123 cells.

Will there be any gains in brightness with 3 cells? Anyone know about the runtime gains with 3 cells instead of 2? Will 3 cells be overdriving the KL5?

Thanks,
Matt

The L5 is regulated, so there is no problem running 3 cells under it. That also means that the output will stay the same. Just talked to SF and they say 95 min. with 3 cells.

Thanks Danintex. Is that 95 minutes at full brightness?

I guess for 30 more minutes runtime and no increased brightness, I don't need the 3 cell body. Then again, I didn't "need" an L5. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif
