A couple of good solar powered lights would be nice. He could recharge them in the day and walk at night.

Neat! This guy has been helped in some way or another by a few outdoor suppliers, I wonder what he has already? Maybe he already has solar lights? I doubt he walks much at night though, it's pretty dangerous to walk the interstate roads at night when you can't be seen as easily. Plus he's gotta sleep sometime. I'm sure his wife could tell you what he has in the way of flashlights (if any) if you fire an e-mail to their site there.
