I suppose that it comes down to the amount of money that you want to spend.
The drop in module is pretty inexpensive, but I don't think it's something that you'd call an all out performer. If it is, you may have heat issues.
The other, more costly alternative is to get one of the older KL3s and have it modified. This consists of replacing the emitter with a Lux III and replacing the optic with a turned down 27mm reflector. I can also ramp up the current to the luxeon. This will result in performance that will very closely compare to that of the Aelph I. As I said above, however, this is a costly mod. You first have the cost of the head itself, and the mod costs around $85.
