hi guys - Anyone know how to do animations?

Here is the little logo i need animated:

What i need, is an animation that makes the outer ring in the picture spin around the inner circle with the coloured dots, and take about 8 seconds to do a rotation.

Can someone do it? does anyone know how?

Neg,

The animation is done by creating a whole mess of these gifs, with the ring positioned differently each time. Then use a program to merge them into a single image. Several programs (such as GIMP) can do the merging for you.

My problem is rotating the ring. i know how to do it, but i cant make the picture symmetrical in both axes, and im really no whiz at any form of graphics program (I have GIMP, but i cant figure out what anything does!)
