SL 4AA Pro-Poly Lux vs Xen question

I was thinking about getting a SL 4AA Pro-Poly Lux
light. I've read on this forum that it's a thrower
even for a LED. It's interesting to read that it actually
has more lumens of output than it's Xenon sibling but
has less candlepower.

My general question is how does it throw compared to the Xenon?
The throw (LUX) figures acc'd to flashlightreviews
are close for both lights with a slight edge to the Xenon.
However, I'm thinking that because this measurement (correct
me if I'm wrong /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif ) is taken at fairly close range it might not hold for range.
In otherwords the led may fade
rapidly at greater distance.

Anyone?

Thanks

According to this chart, the xenon version has both more output and more throw. Its advantage in both categories over the Luxeon version is modest, however. And remember that incandescent flashlights powered by alkaline batteries tend to lose half of their intensity in the first hour or so of use. The Luxeon Propolymer is regulated and will give at least 3.5 hours of full intensity.

The LED is also more durable than the incan and
should last the life of the flashlight. I just
wonder if this light would float w/ Lithies in it?
That would make it an outstanding boat light.

I'd be wary of running lithiums in the Propoly 4AA. Some previous Streamlight LED lights have had issues with Lithiums and I don't know if they've been tested much/any in the Propoly Lux yet. I'm running NiMH's in mine and they work fine but obviously don't offer the weight savings of lithiums.
