1st time Aleph owner has basic question: are 2 (protected)R123s OK to use with A1 w/ DB917? I read through FAQs, etc., and thought answer was clearly yes (DB can handle up to 16v, etc.), but then a few posts have me uncertain.

If so, will it run in regulation (on high)?

Thanks for straightening me out!

A Downboy will work with any voltage below 16V so, yes, the two RCR123A cells will work. I've used 3xRCR123A cells too. No problem with either setup.

You will have regulation.

Hello Andrew,

I have run mine on 4 CR123's without problems. I usually run it on 2 R-CR123's and have had no problems at all.
