Hi guys!
Can you help me build a list of lights with a programable microcontroller or at least adjustable lightlevels? But not those w/ only 2 or 3 levels. Infinitely variable would be nice!
This list would help me and others to get a survey of the market.

Alphabetic order.

PMC:
Arc 4+
eternaLight
Exolion Ti CR2
Fire~Fly III
FluPIC (microcontroller driver for modding, not a flashlight)
HDS Action Light
HDS EDC Basic
HDS EDC Ultimate
Indium SMART (User-programable UI!!! (UPUI?))
LRI Proton
Night-Ops Gladius
Glo-Toob FX
Groovy w/ POP Driver
Mr Bulk's Chameleon
Mr Bulk's LionCub
Mr Bulk's LionHeart
PALight/Safe-Light
POP (PIC-O-PWM) (microcontroller driver for modding, not a flashlight)
Striker-VG

Adjustable Brightness:
BriteStuff Vari-Brite 32L (18 Level)
BriteStuff Vari-Brite 52L (30 Level)
GatLight V1
GatLight V2
ShoreLite Vx1 & Vx2
SPY005
SureFire U2 Ultra (6 Level)

Might be a bit of a dummy question from me but does a mag mod using a nflex count? Nflex has 8 levels...

It's a bit of overkill if you want just "BRIGHT" or "DIM" but that's where Andrew Rouses NANO is going to come into play for me. It has 3 output levels and is a 10 out of 10 IMHO for practicality and engineering brilliance.

Be sure to add the rest of Andrews creations to your list as they are created. They will have varied or variable outputs and are up there with the best of the best.

Tell us more about those POP. Can't find anything.

2 step isnt enough here. It should have much power on high, a VERY low setting and a lot of steps between. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Don't know if we should add mods here. Perhaps later?

PALights also have the "off" mode in which the LED glows very faintly. It can actually be used to read with dark adjusted eyes. Some have an "SOS" mode as well.

Thanks for your proposals 83Venture. But i had rather high-power/high-end lights (Luxeon-like) in mind. Why shoul i dim a low-power light? Ok, that's only my opinion. They might be useful/affordable for some people.
But the EternaLights are cool!!!/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/happy14.gif

here's cgpeanut's POP2 sammie sales thread. There're some details there. Actually, djpark is the creator of these; Here's an example of the stuff he does with lights.

Wish I could do a more thorough search right now, but gotta run. Hope this gets you started at least.

I also make a converter board that will be a drop in fit for the JIL 1.3W. I have successfully put it in other lights like the Q3 and it is great. Check out my signature for the link to the FLuPIC converter board.

GreenLED,

Thanks for the link.

Xygen,

Here is more information on the POP (PIC-O-PWM) and its variants. It dates back to the H&M contest last year (2004). Yes, both entries to 2 classes won the first prize.

It may not qualify what you are looking for or it may depending on how and what you look at it.

Here are some links to show the history. One fine day, I will have to compile all these.

H&M Contest 2004 Class 2 Winner: Arc-AA 8mm ISP + Micro-P Multi Brightness (The beginning)

H&M Contest 2004 Class 4 Winner: Pager Light with 6 * 100mA LED & micro-P

PIC-O-PWM (POP) micro-P DIY & Video (POP-L kit)

POP2 (PIC-O-PWM V2) with PICmicro Dual UI (First POP2 v2.25)

Fenix L1+ AA Light Mod with POP2 (mod example)

Introducing: Groovy! , the prototype -- Part II (POP2G for groovy! operation chart)

cgpeanut's bst - POP2 V2.31 TXOH sammies (POP2 v2.31 operation chart)

cgpeanut's bst - POP2 JILL PILL & Sammies I Can Make More! (JilLite DD pill)

... and more ...

I have a PALight that is classified a 'Military" version and has an actual permanent "off" setting. Also low, high, flashing, SOS... Not made anymore, put a Lithium 9 volt in it and have an emergency light that will last for 10 years sitting on the shelf, and ready to use in an instant.

Well, the Groovy! with a POP2G driver offers quick access to two levels, but one of those levels can be set to your desired level, so that makes it infinitely variable. Sort of. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
