After having noticed the need to check each Dorcy light in stock at Target and Wal-Mart before buying what has your luck buying from Web merchants been?

I assume some (most?) merchants won't bother checking an item before sending it to you.

I really need input before I spend some money.

I don't recall hearing any merchants anywhere that cherry pick already packaged items. Most places check items once in awhile to see if they are making junk or not but many just rely on you to get a replacement if yours isn't up to par.
Having to cherry pick is part of the bargain process, if ever item was perfect they would have to double the price and you certainly wouldn't pay for that.
