I am looking for a led light... it has to be small... really small, smaller than E1E; runtime has to be up there, as does brightness, luxeon preffered... any ideas? Oh, and its better if it uses 123s.

Looked at ArsMechanica's Custom Titanium light yet? Otherwise, you could look at the Orb RAW, the Jil 1.3, or maybe a Peak Caribbean, if not the old Q-III standby. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Look at the peak Caribbean at www.peakledsolutions.com
brighter than a Q III, HA III, 1 x CR123, and with the pocket style body physically about the size of a roll of nickles...
less than 2 oz weight in aluminum, but can be had in stainless or brass.
Twisty head only.

That isnt very nice.. Isn't there some sort of CPFers creed:

1) Though shall not take one breath without an EDC within your reach (preferably on your body).
2) Thou shall never use a maglight (or other cheap light) without modification.
3) Thou shall not steal another's lifeline. (EDC)
4) Thou shall never fill thy light with bad, or cheap batteries.
5) Thou shall treat thy light as thy brother.

and so on.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Bummer though about the budget. The PD and HDS are probably about ideal for the specs, but I don't think all those things can be had for $75. Too bad about the Proton. That would have been another.

Tried B/S/T? Maybe there are some "steals" there?

For longer runtimes I guess one has to go with 1watt Luxeons?

I like the S1801 1w Luxeon 1xCR123

The CPF favorite Nuwai Q3 unfortunately can't be said to have a long runtime -
nor is it particularly well thought of in terms of its electronics/efficiency -
But if longer runtimes are more to do with economics rather than being able to use the light for long continuous periods -
then a Q3 using a rechargeable RCR123 with charger might give the desired economy....

check out Nuwai Q3 with RCR123 + Nano Charger

For longer runtime of the Nuwai Q3 just add a 2stage switch.
You can easily change to that level of light you need and have a few hours of runtime on low.
In combination with a spare rechargeable r123 it`ll serve you very well! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/happy14.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
