The only one I currently see is the Peak Kino Bay, and it gets terrible runtime and lousy output curve (doesn't look like its even partially regulated)?

I think this would be a very useful configuration as a compact light--AAs are easy to find and cheap. My solution to the runtime would be to underdrive it signficantly--maybe try to get 5 lumens of constant regulation. Yes, 5mm leds already do this but I HATE the bluish tint most of them have.

Anyone else really wanted to see more makers come out with 1 AA and/or 1 AAA luxeon pocket lights that actually get a flat output curve with reasonable runtime?

I might just get a Kino Bay one day, but its 1/2 hour (before it goes below 50%) output has limited use IMO.

Hey 357, haven't seen you around in a while. Actually, there are a few new 1AA luxeon offerings that seem promising. The best looks to be the Fenix L1 series seen here:

4sevens is currently holding a group buy at a discounted price:

There is also the Terralux Chromestar seen here:

This light looks decent, but doesn't have a protected emitter which could be problematic.
Of course, there is always the venerable TNC Keylux- a current B/S/T has one for $100 shipped which is a really good price for this light:

Sorry about all the long URL's, I haven't played with tiny URL's yet.

357,
The LRI Proton 1AA light was supposed to be variable all the way to 60 lumens. Have no idea when or if it will come out but it is interesting.
The Kino Bay will give over an hour of flat runtime on a NiMH AA cell, but if you want an ultra-long runtime...don't get that puppy.
Along the lines of the LRI Proton is the upcoming Peak 1AA light that has variable output or multiple output settings. You can make the setting to suit your lighting and runtime needs.
Personally, I am looking forward to variable output single AA lights. Nice size, one cell and variable output in case it is needed to run a loooong time during power outages.
The Fenix looks interesting, let us know how you like it if you purchase one.
