I have been messing around with my LED patio lights and they just suck. I have Energizer 1.2aa NiMh batteries in them (just charged) and one still stinks as far as output.
Anyone have any GOOD solar rechargeable LED patio lights ??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/awman.gif

I've replaced the original leds in my solar lights with a pair of the 10mm 65k leds and I find that they are brighter than a standard 4 watt bulb that you would normally find in the wired variety. The lights that I have are a bit upscale in that they use the higher voltage (3.3-3.5) leds instead of the leds that need less than 2 volts. If your lanterns have a voltage boost circuit in them then you have plenty of room to experiment with today's modern 5mm, 7mm, and 10mm leds. I also have some less expensive solar lights that use only the battery voltage (2.40V) and they are not upgradable as far as installing better leds goes. In a nutshell..."you pays your money and you gets what you gets".
