I seem to remember reading somewhere that you can use an alternative battery to the 3x AAA batteries in "Luxeon" 3w torch, but cannot find the info again.

What are the pro's and con's of doing this, and which batteries are we talking about?

Thanks

There is a thread where someone uses a longer lithium ion batteries about the same diameter as the cartridge. The light has to have extra room for the extra length requiring some engineering in most lights that would work. You also need a charger capable of charging the batteries. I *think* it was something like an 18650 but don't quote me on that.

We have changed a few of these lights to 18500 cells. As these lights are more or less DD, deep discharge is no problem(and the cells are very cheap or free anyway)
