Has anyone had any experience with these? The seller offers
these from 5k to 70k so some must be brighter but will one
single 5mm white led really put out this much? The ad says
70k max and 60k mcd average, thats still a bunch compared to my Nichia 5Ks.

Which ones are you referring to? I'm not aware of any 70,000 mcd 5mm LED being offered on eBay right now. They do have plenty of 10mm LEDs with mcd ratings from 60,000 to 80,000 though. The 10mm LEDs are just most tightly focused, hence the higher intensity.

Based on my lumens testing, a 70,000 mcd, 20° 5mm LED would have an efficiency of well over 100 lm/W which is why none currently exist.

I've seen some shots of those in action and they have a rather sick yellow tint to them - as in the favorite "dog-urine yellow" description.

N4aeq: Are you talking about the 5mm 40ma dual chip 8 lumen leds that ebay seller LCKWTC is offering? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
