Ultralast Rechargeable CR123s?

Was at my local Fry's Electronics yesterday and noticed they now carry the Ultralast brand rechargeable CR123 kit, which includes 2 Li-Ion cells and a smart charger for $24.99. Additional cells are $9.99. Has anyone used them yet? Are they protected or unprotected? I am looking for rechargeable 123s for my Arc4, LSH, and maybe even my old Inova X5.
