Possible/worth it to remove corroded batteries from Mag?

My 3 D-cell mag lite got forgotten in a drawer and the batteries are now corroded into the barrel. I guess the way to get them out is to remove the head and the tail cap and maybe bang with a broomstick or something, but is the lite likely to be usable after that? Not sure it is worth the effort.

If it's a rare or vintage light, you can take the tailcap off, soak in PB Blaster, and try to whack them out. If worst comes to worst you can take the switch out the front (pre-1989) and pound the batts out the back, or loosen the switch (post-1989) and try and drive it out with the batteries.

If it's a newer light just call either Mag or whomever made the batteries. They'll give you a new one.

If it is not a rare one, easier to replace the whole light as
I think corrosion due to battery damage may not be covered
by warranty
